Term 2 2012
This term we have Miss Holman teaching in our class with Mrs Garton.
Homework is often set in RE so that you have a chance to be ‘up with the play’ in our class learning.
- Reading—an expectation to read for 20 minutes each night
- Writing—updating own blog with reflection of events and learning at least once a week
- Maths—personal practice related to number knowledge goals
- Some groups I will set formal homework tasks to support learning in class
From time to time there will be questions for each member of the class to investigate on a topic we are discussing in class. These are usually to be done on the night they are given so we can use the information the next day.
Towards the middle of term there will be a personal study task for students to complete and display for the rest of the class.
Term 1 2012
We listened to the reading we are having at our beginning of year Mass next week. It is from Matthew. Jesus tells his followers to be like salt in the way we can serve him where we live and work.
First we need to know more about salt ….. so maybe we could try eating some things without salt and see the difference, talk about the different kinds of salt we have and where it comes from. What are all the uses for salt?
Each night we read for 20-30 minutes.
Each night we practice maths number knowledge…. eg addition and subtraction facts to and from 20, times tables… all of them, division facts etc. We have to be able to recall the answers quickly and accurately.
There is an expectation that all blogs will be updated at least once a week. This can be done from home or school. All students new to the class will have their new blogs shortly. Your blog is one place you can celebrate your successes.
Bring something you are really interested in to school to show us. You may spark someone else’s interest when you share your passions.
